University of Wisconsin-Madison researchers have been seriously impacted by sudden cuts to more than 60 federally funded projects due to shifting priorities under the Trump administration.
Among the cuts is the $19 million Social Security research consortium which was abruptly labeled "fraudulent and wasteful." Led by J. Michael Collins, the Fetzer Family Chair in Consumer and Personal Finance and professor of Consumer Science, the research team had been studying crucial topics like disability benefits and savings accounts for vulnerable populations.

Pate Jr., associate professor of Consumer Science, Human Development & Family Studies and the Dean's Fathers and Fathering Faculty Fellow.
