Tonight on PBS Wisconsin is the premiere of Dr. Alvin Thomas’ University Place talk, “Raising up Fatherhood, Raising Resilient Children.” Assistant Professor Dr. Thomas shares his personal journey from teacher in St. Lucia to clinical psychologist and researcher at UW-Madison’s School of Human Ecology. In this talk, Dr. Thomas highlights the challenges to positive youth development and explores the concept of resilience - challenging our conventional thinking about resilience. He describes how parents can serve as resilience enablers and how fathers are an untapped resource in the enabling of resilience.
