The name Zingerman’s brings up all kinds of warm and fuzzy feelings if you went to school at the University of Michigan (or if you’re a foodie of any kind in the know!).
Zingerman’s is a world class deli that started in the 80s when the two founders - then students in Ann Arbor - were yearning for the Jewish deli food of their youth. Now an entire empire, they’ve expanded into many verticals from mail order to catering to candy to restaurants, and more - but the beloved deli is still the cornerstone of their operation.
Since part of their ethos is expanding, they now offer baking and cooking classes downstairs in their catering space to teach you a few of their Zingerman’s secrets.
We were lucky enough to do the mozzarella making class on our family vacation to Ann Arbor.
Our beyond patient teachers – Connor and Frank – taught us so much about cheese (including how much math is involved in making it!) that we left simply amazed.
