LIONS, MONARCHS TIE IN FINALE: The jserra.girlssoccer team narrowly missed a chance to win the Trinity League title on Monday, as the Lions and the Mater Dei Monarchs played to a 2-2 tie at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana. JSerra finishes the season with 7-3-3 overall record and a 2-2-2 mark in league. The Lions finish in second place in the Trinity League, one point behind Santa Margarita. Sophomore Morgan Woolforde gave the Lions a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 12th. Mater Dei tied the contest at 1-1 with a goal in the 26th minute. Junior G.G. Szczuka recaptured the advantage for the Lions in the 31st minute. After a strong attack by junior Bria Johnson resulted in a Monarchs foul, Szczuka blasted the ensuing free kick to the right of the Monarchs goalie and into the corner of the goal to make it 2-1.
