Could you recreate a Renaissance still-life painting in the real world? Sotheby’s specialists calvineharvey and daria__rose attempt to do just that using two Pieter Claesz still lifes as inspiration. For the first recreation, Calvine Harvey sources loose tobacco, drinking vessels, dice, and playing cards to replicate the remnants of a night out in 17th-century Europe. The two Claesz paintings are included in Light and Life: The Lester L. Weindling Collection sale on 5 February as part of Masters Week at #Sotheby’sNewYork. Tap the link in bio for more. Masters Week is presented by qatarexecutive.
