"My daughter wouldn’t be here today if it weren't for the people who donated blood. She was born at 29 weeks and 3 days. She needed four blood transfusions because she wasn’t able to produce red blood cells on her own. Every day I see my daughter, I see this amazing little person that has gone through so much in her short 19 months of living. She amazes me.” This is Bridgette Turner and her daughter, Brielle. ❤️ We hope their story inspires you this #BMHW23 to learn more about maternal health in the Black community. According to the Population Reference Bureau, women who are Black are 50% more likely to deliver a premature baby compared to women who are white. Having a strong and diverse blood supply is important to help save the lives of people giving birth and infants in crisis. #BlackMaternalHealth #BlackMaternalHealthWeek
