Fans kept a tight eye on Dean Letourneau across social media, preparing for his first collegiate goal with “
#TheGoal”, and nicknaming the Beanpot as the “Deanpot.” After scoring just three points his freshman season, he was labeled as a bust—a waste of a first-round pick for the Bruins. But just a year later, Letourneau would take a 20-point leap and earn himself a Hobey Baker nomination.
And despite the negative commentary surrounding his play during his freshman season at BC, men’s hockey coach Greg Brown never wavered about him.
“We tried to tell everyone last year, but nobody believed us,” Brown said.
