Nancy Rowe woke up on her 47th birthday with the distinct feeling that she would not be having children, and wanted to give life another way. Less than a year later, in August 2018, Rowe underwent surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) to donate her right kidney to a stranger in need. Rowe, a surgical technologist at Penn Presbyterian, says having one kidney has not negatively impacted her life at all. “If more people knew how easy it was–relatively–I think more people would do it."
