The Howard University Gallery of Art is lending three powerful works by legendary Howard alumna Elizabeth Catlett to She Speaks: Black Women Artists and the Power of Historical Memory, opening February 7 at the Banneker-Douglass-Tubman Museum. Spanning centuries of history, She Speaks centers Black women artists whose work holds memory, resistance, and futurity with intention and clarity. Catlett’s contributions remind us that art is not only expression, it is responsibility. This collaboration extends Howard’s commitment to preserving, sharing, and teaching Black history through art, while creating meaningful learning opportunities for our students beyond the classroom.
