This UK Disability History Month, we’re highlighting the incredible work of the RCGP Learning Disabilities Special Interest Group (SIG) a growing community of more than 100 GPs and professionals dedicated to improving the care and outcomes of people with learning disabilities. The group meets quarterly online, hosts expert speakers, creates RCGP training opportunities, and provides valuable insight to national programmes including NHSE’s Learning Disability work. Members also collaborate with other RCGP SIGs and contribute to conferences, One Day Essentials, and national conversations on annual health checks, coding and reasonable adjustments. Alongside meetings, the SIG runs an active WhatsApp group where members share queries, learning, policy updates and resources a supportive space to learn from one another.
