For many, the world of the military is seen only through film and television. For Dr Emily Brookes, it’s a lived experience that continues to shape her work as a GP. After nearly two decades of military service including deployments to Afghanistan, Africa and Belize, Emily now draws on those lessons to help veterans feel seen and supported in primary care. As the RCGP Veterans Clinical Champion, she’s helping practices across the UK become Veteran Friendly Accredited, ensuring every veteran can trust their GP to understand their needs.
