This technique is especially beneficial for seeds that need additional light in order to germinate. For example, when planting snapdragon seeds, you will want to sow the seeds on top of the damp soil and cover with very little soil on top. By wetting the soil ahead of time, it helps to prevent any seeds from getting washed off the top of the soil if you were to sow them first and then water the flat. 🌱
