Since the beginning of 2026, severe floods have affected southern and central Mozambique, and neighbouring countries in southern Africa. Mozambique is worst hit. Flooding has affected at least 650,000 people, displaced hundreds of thousands, destroyed tens of thousands of homes, killed livestock, washed away crops and led to a risk of cholera and other water-born diseases.
