New year, new right whale calf! ✨🐋 Boomerang (right whale catalog #2503) and her new calf were sighted by the CMA Research Institute aerial survey team on January 1, 2026, east of the St. Marys River, bordering Georgia and Florida. This is the 15th North Atlantic right whale calf this season! Boomerang is 31 years old, and this is her 5th known calf.
