The current North Atlantic right whale calving season has officially matched the total count of calves that were seen last season with 11 new whales documented so far!
The 11th right whale mom, Uca (catalog
#3390) and her calf were sighted by the CMA Research Institute aerial survey team east of Saint Phillips Island, South Carolina on December 23, 2025.
Another right whale, Bermuda (catalog
#3780) and her calf were also sighted on December 23 by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) aerial survey team off Amelia Island, Florida.
Aerial survey teams will continue flying between the Carolinas and Florida to monitor the critically endangered right whales migrating from New England for their annual calving season through spring 2026.
