Women’s place in sport was never guaranteed but reluctantly gifted based on demand. It was not until the 2000 Olympics that Women’s Weightlifting was added to the list of sports.

Fitness is political- How we define the aesthetic of women’s health and who has access to the time and energy it takes to be healthy is political. Women have been historically left out of scientific research labeled as atypical, abnormal, or irrelevant leaving so many gaps in literature and bias in research data.
Take up space- In a culture where women are constantly reinforced, encouraged, or praised to be softer, smaller, or weaker do the opposite.
It is more about what your body can do and less what it looks like- So much more can be accomplished when we take the ideal aesthetic out of the equation. There is no 1 ideal body type across all sports because each one has a different set of characteristics needed for an athletic advanta...
