The number of city of Chattanooga employees making six figures nearly tripled over the course of 2025, according to an analysis of salary data by the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
In February, there were 81 employees making at least $100,000 in the city, out of 2,626 individuals listed on payroll.
By December, that number grew to 218 employees out of 2,584, with the increase in wages concentrated mostly in the Chattanooga Fire Department. That same month, Hamilton County employed 126 people making six figures out of 2,145 employees.
