Ten students from Lockerbie, Scotland, are visiting Syracuse University this week for Remembrance Week, continuing a decades-long connection between SU and Lockerbie Academy after the 1988 Pan Am 103 bombing that occurred over the Scottish city’s sky. The scholars said they grew up surrounded by memories of the terrorist attack that killed 270 people, including 35 SU students on their way home from studying abroad. “Being here makes all of that quite raw, because then that makes the connection real,” Brian Asher, the scholars’ head teacher, said. “It’s hard to put into words, but it’s been their life, and to be here is very precious.” Click the link in our bio to learn more about the program.
