Tracey Sturgal is connecting Marquette University’s community in powerful ways. 💙💛 In addition to serving as chair and professor of communication studies and strategic communication, Sturgal signs the national anthem at every home basketball game, turning music into movement for deaf and hard-of-hearing fans. Drawing on years of experience interpreting in classrooms, medical settings and other high-pressure environments, she prepares for each game by attending a sound check and studying every performer’s unique variation of the anthem.
