The “Effort” Trap… Your client doesn’t pay for how many effects you can stack on a timeline. They pay for for a video that people actually want to watch. Most editors stay stuck at the $200 price point because they use transitions as a crutch for bad storytelling, and thus losing the viewers’ interest. If your edit doesn’t work with clean cuts, no amount of “glow” or “zoom” plugins will save it. High level editing ($3,500+) is about three things: 1. Intentionality: Every effect must have a “Why.” 2. Dynamic Pacing: Knowing when to be still so the movement actually matters. 3. Sequencing: Using the Wide/Med/Close formula to guide the viewer’s eye without them even realizing it. When you start editing with intention, instead of throwing effects at the wall and hoping something sticks, you will immediately begin attracting the clients with bigger budgets. Save this for the next time you’re tempted to hide a boring cut with a flashy transition. wrk to create, wrk to inspire #vid...
