On Feb. 1, two faculty members at the University of Missouri School of Music, Bill Kalinkos and Stefan Freund, won a Grammy with their chamber orchestra group Alarm Will Sound. They won for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance with their album “Donnacha Dennehy: Land of Winter.”
At the
Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles, Kalinkos and Freund were joined by the group’s artistic director, Alan Pierson, and executive director Gavin Chuck. Pierson and Chuck accepted the Grammy award on behalf of the group, and Freund said watching the show on TV is “nothing like” experiencing it live.
“It was amazing and also quite surreal,” Kalinkos said.
