Montgomery College reported a 6 percent increase in fall 2025 headcount enrollment, outpacing both the national community college growth rate of 3 percent and Maryland’s overall postsecondary increase of 3.4 percent, according to the National Student Clearinghouse. Nationally, overall postsecondary enrollment rose 1 percent, with community colleges posting the strongest gains among higher education sectors. Public four-year institutions saw more modest growth, while private four-year colleges experienced declines. College President Jermaine F. Williams said the trends reflect student interest in affordability, flexibility, and clear pathways to careers and transfer opportunities.
