Syracuse ice hockey head coach Britni Smith is headed to the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics as an assistant for Team Canada’s women’s team. It’s a stepping stone in her international coaching tenure, having worked with Hockey Canada for over a decade.
Last year, Smith helped Canada beat the United States at the Rivalry Series and earn a silver medal at the IIHF Women’s World Championship. She had conversations about an Olympic position three months later, reliving her dream as a player on the biggest stage.
“She’s going to do everything she can to help them get better and bring that team together to accomplish that goal,” former coworker Matt Desrosiers said.
