It started with one small step... When Penn State graduate student Emma Steely signed up for Community Organization and Action, she thought it would just be another class. Instead, it changed the trajectory of her career. That course connected her with the Justice and Safety Institute and Keystone Community Partnerships, where she helped pilot a new kind of de-escalation training—one that brought law enforcement and community members into the same room to focus on understanding, communication, and officer wellness.
