Prince's 2007 Super Bowl XLI halftime show nearly didn't happen. Heavy downpours over Miami's Dolphin Stadium threatened to cancel the performance entirely. When the show's producers expressed concern, Prince had one question for them—"Can you make it rain harder?"⁠ ⁠ In an oral history published by The Ringer, those who were there (producers to band members to Prince's personal assistant) recount how the performance came together.
