But 30–40 years ago? Holiday travel could take up to 16 hours. There were fewer cars back then, but the roads and infrastructure weren’t nearly as developed. Bus terminals and train stations were just as packed as the highways. Still, despite the long and exhausting journey, people were filled with excitement about going home.
