Syracuse quarterback Steve Angeli is set to miss the remainder of the 2025 season with a torn Achilles, which he suffered in SU’s 34-21 win over Clemson Saturday, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Sunday.
Angeli was named the Orange’s starting quarterback ahead of their opening matchup against then-No. 24 Tennessee and led the country with 1,072 passing yards ahead of a trip to Death Valley. But a non-contact left-leg injury forced Angeli to hobble off the field and leave South Carolina on crutches.
Rickie Collins Jr. will take Angeli’s mantle after filling in for the Notre Dame transfer following his exit against the Tigers. Angeli is expected to have two more years of eligibility if he qualifies for a medical redshirt.
