Syracuse stumbled to its worst finish since the 1968-69 campaign last season as its two stars, J.J. Starling and Donnie Freeman, played a mere seven games together. Starling missed seven games with a broken left hand, while a right toe injury sidelined Freeman early.
Ahead of this season, the duo is at the forefront of a new-look roster in a pivotal year for the Orange, who added six players in the transfer portal to bolster five incoming freshmen. This summer, Starling and Freeman helped recruit and find potential fits as SU’s coaches asked for the two players’ opinions on roster additions.
With a revamped roster around its two stars, Freeman and Starling are looking to lead Syracuse back to March Madness.
