Sign Guy, who would prefer you read his signs than his name, rarely misses a day on the Shaw Quadrangle. Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, he’s there — rain, shine or snow. He sits in a folding lawn chair in the same spot for an hour or two, holding up a whiteboard with a brief positive message.
“Keep going.” “You matter.” “Your smile is beautiful.”
Passersby usually don’t spare Sign Guy more than a brief glance, smile and sometimes a wave. But the senior doesn’t mind if people don’t react, because he knows he’s been “doing the right thing” since his first year on campus.
