Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown fired special teams coordinator Ricky Brumfield in one of four coaching staff changes Monday.⁠ ⁠ In his lone year with the Orange, Brumfield helped turn Syracuse’s special teams into a bright spot after it was one of the Orange’s worst attributes in 2024, our beat writer says. Last year, Syracuse was an ACC-worst 13-for-22 on field goal attempts as it shuffled through three different kickers.⁠ ⁠ Under Brumfield, Iowa transfer kicker Tripp Woody was perfect on 22 extra point attempts and 12-of-14 on field goals, and Brumfield also helped engineer kicker Jadyn Oh’s surprise onside kick recovery in Syracuse’s upset win over Clemson in Death Valley.
