Syracuse University senior and men’s rugby player Jayden Kass started volunteering last fall at Syracuse’s Jewish Community Center to fulfill a community service requirement. His time connecting with senior program members inspired Kass to invite 10 of his teammates to join him.
The 11 players formed a strong bond with the JCC through consistent service. The athletes went on to coach a five-week program for students ages 8 to 11 at the center, which ended Nov. 20.
“They’re always really excited to see you,” Lawlor, a Syracuse University graduate student, said. “It’s the simplest feedback there is. If they like you, you’re obviously doing something right.”
