Despite a valiant late-game effort, Syracuse men’s basketball fell to No. 14 North Carolina 87-77. The Orange failed to handle the Tar Heels’ explosive offense, headlined by five-star freshman Caleb Wilson. The forward scored 22 points, with 10 coming at the free-throw line.⁠ ⁠ Besides forward Donnie Freeman, the Orange struggled to create instant offense. The sophomore scored 18 of his 23 points in the first half and was lifeless after. Although guards Naithan George, J.J. Starling and Kiyan Anthony finished in double figures, wing Nate Kingz only had eight after dropping 28 on Saturday.⁠ ⁠ The shooting discrepancy from 3 was a crucial factor in the outcome, with UNC outlasting the Orange with a 44% rate to their 33%.
