To honor the culture of his home country Argentina, late Syracuse University professor of Latin American literature Pedro Cuperman used his love for literature, research and visual art as a vehicle to honor his heritage at SU. In 1975, Cuperman launched Point of Contact in SU’s Nancy Cantor Warehouse, which will display a commemorative “50 Sin Cuenta” exhibit until late October. Half a century later, the organization’s art programming remains a bilingual cultural institution in the city but is dedicated to all voices. “It was always meant to just be a space where creatives from all backgrounds felt comfortable in dialogue and discussion,” said Miranda Traudt, the former managing director of Point of Contact’s gallery. Click the link in our bio to learn more about Point of Contact’s 50-year span. Photographs by @LJ.Lenns (1, 2), courtesy of Teresita Paniagua (3, 4, 5) and the Bird Library Special Research Center (3).
