Jerome Staley underwent a right sided above-the-knee amputation in late November of last year. He initially came to Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital after surgery to improve his strength, activity tolerance and balance while simultaneously targeting amputee education and management led by his rehab team. Jerome then transitioned home for ongoing healing of his residual limb prior to returning to Bryn Mawr Rehab for prosthetic training. During this stay, Jerome has learned how to manage all components of his prosthesis, developed a wearing schedule and has achieved independence in all areas of his basic daily routine with use of his new prosthesis. Jerome’s inpatient rehab schedule included intensive occupational and physical therapy for a total of 3 hours per day, 5x a week with additional therapies on weekends.
