A crowd gathered in frigid temperatures and wind chills for a rally to save the Asbury Park Casino. The building is owned by Madison Marquette, which is responsible for the upkeep. Last month, the developer requested a permit to demolish the Casino’s breezeway; a request that drew the ire of city officials and local politicians. The owner is now pledging to repair and preserve a large portion of the iconic building. “Understandably, our great State Senator Vin Gopal and our representatives Margie Donlan and Luanne Peterpaul expressed their concern over any potential demolition,” Madison Marquette said in a statement on Friday. “(Asbury Park) Mayor (John) Moor and the city council rightly urged us to find a solution. We did. The breezeway will be repaired and preserved.”
