The Electronic System for Travel Authorisation, ESTA, allows you to visit the US for 90 days or less, without the need for a visa.
However, you need to make sure the photo you use on your ESTA application complies with the rules outlined by the US government, as many people have used photos of their passport, which will not comply with these rules and your ESTA will not be valid.
If your ESTA is not valid, you will be denied boarding on your flight.
This also applies to anyone travelling through any US airport.
The photograph must adhere to the rules outlined by the CBP, including being against a plain background and clearly showing your head and shoulders.
So before you travel, make sure you double-check your ESTA is valid.
