For the first time in years, teachers can actually participate in prayer with students in schools. A teacher can bow their head to say grace before lunch, and students can join if they want to. However, there are still limits. Teachers still can't instruct students to pray, pressure them to participate or create an environment where kids who pray are treated better. The shift follows a major Supreme Court decision in the 2022 case Kennedy v. Bremerton Schools that supported a football coach's right to pray on the field after games. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon said the administration is "proud to stand with students, parents and faculty who wish to exercise their First Amendment rights in schools."
