Children who are being held at the Dilley detention center in Texas, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Ramos was held, are detailing their experiences and the conditions at the facility. According to letters the children wrote to ProPublica journalist Mica Rosenberg, many children describe mistreatment from guards, homesickness, lack of medical care, poor food quality, and deteriorating mental health. Several mothers told ProPublica that some children have struggled with suicidal thoughts and self-harm and reported finding worms and mold in their food, leading many to fall sick and lose their appetite.
