As first-gen Latinas, we’re often praised for being resilient, breaking barriers, and being inspiring. While it is incredible and important to see many Latinas being the “first,” being first-gen isn’t always about making history. Sometimes it’s about just making it through the day, surviving systems that were not built with us in mind, and navigating expectations we didn’t ask to be placed on us.
