Today is the #InternationalDayOfWomenandGirlsInScience, and like many others in the science world, we are celebrating the achievements and contributions of women in science and recognising their important role in shaping our society. ⁣ ⁣ Our Forensic Services Department (FSD) operates across three locations - Macleod, Ballarat, and Morwell - and is one of Australia's biggest providers of forensic science services. ⁣ ⁣ The skilled team includes a mix of forensic officers (mostly scientists) and specialised police officers who work together to provide expert forensic analysis. ⁣ ⁣ Their specialised skills cover a wide range of areas, including: ⁣ ⁣ 🧬 DNA testing ⁣ 🧪 chemical analysis ⁣ 🌱 botany ⁣ 🔫 ballistics ⁣ 📹 recovering or enhancing audio-visual evidence. ⁣ ⁣ If you’re interested in a career in forensic science, there are two main paths that could lead you to Victoria Police’s FSD: a science career or a police career. ⁣ ⁣ #STEM
