There's far too much bad news this week (okay, every week). We have some good news to share. Today, California's imperiled mountain lions were just granted lifesaving protection under the state Endangered Species Act. 🎉 Now, six populations within Southern California and the Central Coast will receive much-needed protections under the Act. These mountain lions have struggled to survive due to habitat loss and fragmentation from sprawl, car strikes and rodenticide poisoning. Protections under the Act will ensure that harms from development projects to mountain lions and their habitat are addressed and minimized. It could also help bring more wildlife crossings and habitat protections in important connectivity areas.
