After spending over four months in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody, Subramanyam “Subu” Vedam’s deportation order was vacated by the Justice Department’s Board of Immigration Appeals on Feb. 3. Vedam’s initial deportation order was based on his 1988 murder conviction. However, after the charge was vacated in October 2025, the order was reopened related to a conviction regarding controlled substances. In 1984, Vedam was convicted of selling LSD in State College.
