There were smiles, gratitude and a few butterflies at the start line as Elaine Thompson-Herah made her long-awaited return to competition at the Camperdown Classic, her first race since June 2024. The five-time Olympic champion, who has been sidelined with an Achilles injury, said she was simply grateful to be back doing what she loves. “I’m happy. I’m peaceful. I missed it,” she shared after the race, describing the event as part of her rebuilding process. “It was to have fun… work on stuff that I’m working on in practice and just to feel about myself... no pain of course.” Though she admitted to feeling nervous in the blocks, Thompson-Herah said she was able to control the moment. Now, with her team by her side and more races ahead, she’s focused on staying healthy and quietly working toward bigger goals later this season. “You know sometimes go to work in silence and that's what I'm doing right now so by now in September hopefully I'll unleash something hopefully...” #TrackAndF...
