The Philadelphia Police Department’s Northeast Detectives Division is seeking help from the public to track down a man who, officials said, attacked a woman at the 6900 block of Torresdale Avenue in Northeast Philly and stole her purse at around 5:28 a.m. on Feb. 5, 2026. On Sunday, police shared surveillance footage of the incident on social media in the hopes of capturing the man involved. At that time, officials said, the man sought by police grabbed the victim’s purse by a strap and pulled it off of her shoulder, pulling her to the ground and dragging her a short distance in the attack. Following the robbery, police said, the suspected thief — described as a man between 30 and 40 years of age, standing about 6-foot tall, 210 lbs., with a full beard, who was wearing a blue/green striped shirt and jeans at the time of the incident — fled on foot along the 4600 block of Disston Street.
