In 1944, Hana Berger-Moran’s mother, Priska, was newly pregnant when she and her husband were sent to Auschwitz. About a week after arriving, Priska saw her husband across a barbed-wire fence. It was the last time they ever saw each other. “My dad said to her, ‘Be careful and think only good thoughts. Think only good thoughts.’ He just kept repeating that sentence,” says Hana. Hana’s father died, but her mother, Priska, survived. While working as a slave laborer in Germany, Priska went into labor on the factory floor as guards watched. Hana was born on April 12, 1945, making her one of the youngest survivors of the Holocaust. #holocaust #WWII #holocaustsurvivor #WorldWarII #survivor
