Sperm whales have the largest brains of any animal on earth, matrilineal societies, and a complex language. They are found in waters worldwide, from Iceland to New Zealand. But Dominica is one of the few countries in the world where sperm whales can be observed year-round. By committing to set aside nearly 300 square miles of ocean to the world’s first Sperm Whale Reserve in 2023, Dominica is showing that sustainable tourism and marine protection can go hand-in-hand.
