Grant 🇺🇸 While serving in the U.S. Navy and stationed abroad, Deering’s diplomacy and character left a lasting impression during Grant’s famous post-presidential world tour. “During the four years at the Naval Academy, Charles Deering not only won distinction in the classroom, but in an equally outstanding manner he won the respect, and the affection of all his associates, whether students or instructors. Soon after graduation he served on the Flagship of the European Squadron. At a later time he was assigned to duty in Asiatic waters.
