'so it goes' is easily one of the most underrated songs off of swimming 🌊 before hearing that mac wanted jon brion to play the end of this song like it was the ascension to heaven, there was always something so special about it once he confirmed this story though, it only made me grow to love the track more swimming as an album showcases so much emotional depth across various instruments and genres, and having this as the outro track really ties it all together jon brion then went on to complete mac's posthumous album circles since the two were working together on it before his passing, and even though that project was only partially complete, there were rumors that it was supposed to be a 3-part series of albums which would have been amazing to see then a fun fact about my own life: i actually submitted the application to my first ever internship at the rock and roll hall of fame as this song played, and since i ended up getting it, so it goes has always had a bit more sentiment...
