Join The Oregonian and hereisoregon in celebrating Portland Food Cart Week now through – April 22.
Today we are featuring the Cart Blocks in the heart of downtown Portland. This “cart pod” is the new home to the former Alder Street food cart pod that closed in 2019.
The cartblocks operate in partnership with the city of Portland to create opportunities for food cart culture to thrive downtown.
Home to a variety of events, in the last week of April, the Cart Blocks will close out Food Cart Month with an art project in partnership with gallerygogogo called “Put the Art in Food Cart” where they will be producing a food cart book that features portraits and stories of local food carts, two interactive murals in our courtyard, murals on two of the carts that we will be asking for volunteers to help paint and a collection of tiny food carts decorated by local Portland artists.
