Burke Mountain Academy in Vermont is the oldest ski school in the U.S. Here students receive a formal education, but they’re also schooled in skiing in some of the harshest weather in the country. At times, the mountain is so icy that it’s like skiing on an ice-skating rink. Mikaela Shiffrin trained here up to five hours a day, five days a week, 60 Minutes reported in 2014. "There have been other skiing prodigies in the U.S., but Mikaela's done it earlier and at a higher level than even they have. So, her achievement is very exceptional at such a young age,” said Kirk Dwyer, Shiffrin’s former coach. Shiffrin’s final race at the Milan-Cortina Olympics is Wednesday’s slalom. #winterolympics #burke #slalom #skiing
